I may be geographically far from the Philippines, but I still keep in touch with my roots. I read Inquirer.Net for my daily dose of Philippine politics, especially that the presidential election is fast approaching and apparently, as controversial as before. Of course, I need a share of the colorful and intriguing life of showbiz personalities. I usually surf Philippine Entertainment Portal for this weekly read. I know, I should not be wasting my time reading articles about them, but the thing is – I have too much time to spare during weekends. I am not that worst as you may think. I only read those with catchy titles, which involves celebrities of my liking.
This week is interesting one for the The Buzz hosts, Kris Aquino and Ruffa Gutierrez. Kris created another controversy by keeping her mouth running. No filter, so to speak. It is noted that she is a smart lady, but oftentimes, her mouth is faster than her brain. Mind you – she earns million of pesos from this.
I did view the video of the incident that made its newbie host Ruffa burst into tears due to a tactless remark from its long-time host, Kris. It is not the only incident wherein the latter interrupted the former on air, during the show’s Point Of View segment. Actually, I have observed this kind of treatment in previous shows. I just nudge it. What can you expect? It is a showbiz talk show. The more people are mean to each other, the more it creates the news that they want. What this means? Higher ratings, of course!
Back to both actresses – I say both have their side of the story. Kris, being the tactless that she is. Ruffa being the sensitive lady she is. Let us face it – Kris contributes in the ever-rising popularity of the said show. She has always something to say about an issue. She is never afraid to air her views – bad or good. Ruffa is considerably a neophyte between the two, who joined the show about two years ago. Now, she is spreading her wings and is having her own show. It is a big leap. Obviously, these two ladies will be tough competitors in their field.
A day after the incident, apologies were extended from both parties. Families were involved. This should seal the wounds. Let us just hope that, it’s sincere and not just some gimmicks.
On a side note – I can not wait to check out Ruffa’s first episode of her show.
