Whenever I compel my little mushroom to do things that she is not really into, her reply is most likely the statement above. Most parents will probably be offended and will interpret this as defiance. Well, not for me. I just laugh at it, because she is right. She speaks what is behind my mind. She awes me in so many ways. Sometimes, she makes sense more that I do, and even my husband attested to this.

There are things in life that I wish that I had done during my childhood. Sad to say, my parents were not fortunate to bestow the luxury that every kid desires. Nevertheless, I still consider myself (and my siblings) lucky. They enrolled us in private schools during our high school and college years, even when it was not necessary.

Now that I have a child of my own – my one and only child, I put my frustrations aside and do things to her that is cool in my judgment. Like for example – extra curricular activities. Prior to my little mushroom’s Tae Kwon Do classes, I was contemplating of letting her join a local ballet and dance studio. Do you know what she said when I told her? Same as the title of this post. I admit – I was disappointed when she did not like my idea. I asked my husband for a piece of his mind, and he sided with her. She has a point.

Fast forward – she is really happy with her martial art classes. She does not get bored, and most importantly, she adores the people there too. I am glad that, it’s a money well-spent on our part.

What is my realization? Listen to your kids, and do not let your dreams become their dream.
