If you are a new immigrant of this country, there is one thing that you should be forewarned about – sue-happy people. You need to be cautious in everything you do. What is acceptable in your native country may not be fine here and can be a ground for a law suit. Also, do not be surprised if you will see advertisement of law firms looking for people who are “victims” of certain situation. These ads are instigating people to sue somebody or a company. Believe me, there are people who see this as an opportunity to earn easy money, which I do not blame them. The justice system makes it available for them. Personally, I do not like this idea. It makes people paranoid and uptight in enjoying life.

There is one old case that caught my fascination – the infamous McDonald’s lawsuit. A lady burned herself when the coffee she bought at McDonald’s Drive-Thru spilled on her lap. Guess what? The lady won the case. Here is the deal – a coffee is always served hot, unless it is an iced coffee. Whether it is too hot or just a little bit hot, it still HOT. If we know it is, we avoid getting burnt by it. Get my point? Oh well, sometimes common sense is not common at all. This is just my take, so do not sue me.
