There is a goldmine in buying meat products in bulk. It is usually cheaper than buying it a pound (or two) per pack, especially for small households.
Whenever I go grocery shopping, I always make it to a point that I buy my meat products in bulk, good for the next 2-3 weeks. To preserve it, I pack it in smaller portions, so I will only thaw what my family needs for a certain meal. The secret to this – disposable ziplock bags! It works wonders for me!
