Mother Earth’s wrath spread to Northern Mindanao these past few days through a tropical storm named Typhoon Sendong. This is the worst flood that hit Cagayan de Oro City since I can remember. It displaced thousands of families. Communities living on the banks of the Cagayan de Oro River were greatly affected. Houses were swept to sea. As of this moment, 347 persons succumb to death. Such adversity hits our town during a jovial season. It is sad, but it one of those realities that we have to face head on – together as a community.
I am glad that, my family and relatives are fine. Fortunately, they prepared for it the moment they learned about the typhoon.
