Hello, everyone! I have decided to create this page for the purpose of answering some questions you have about K-3 & K-4 US visa applications, as well as its consequent filing for adjustment of status to legal permanent residents. I do not claim to be an expert, but just a mere seeker for immigration knowledge, since I did our own case. In short, I am a big time researcher. To make my answer credible, I will be posting any related link for your reference. Please read my version of the whole K-3 process HERE.

You can post your question as a comment here. If you are a CR-1 and K-1 visa applicant, you can shoot me a question too. K-3 and K-1 have mostly the same process. Do not forget to state your type of visa (K-3, K-1 or CR-1), so its easy for me understand your case. For the required documents, you may want to read and print this list (click the link) from the embassy’s website:

  hello ms ting, ask ko lang po sana, yng CR1 visa process po nmin, wait po kmi ng checklist which is the final stage napo kami until now wla pa po sila mail or email of checklist, ready to send na docs nmin, sa tingin nyo po ba pwede na nmin send and docs without checklist or do you have any idea how long will it takes for them to send the checklist po? salamat po ng marami.

  hi miss ting!!! i have my visa na, just got it today…i am so happy!!! thank you for answering our queries here. thank you for your help miss ting! so miss ting now that i have my visa okey lang ba na mag travel nako anytime sa usa? or is there specified days na dapat dumaan bago ko magamit visa ko? kc yung tita ko nag travel sa spain 20 days muna dapat ang dadaan bago magamit ang visa o makapagtravel…spain naman yun… so sa usa k3 visa kahit kelan pwede na akong umalis? august 8 kc ang na reserve namin na ticket so pwede na yun? at miss ting anu yung immigrant data summary for us boung? isa kc yan sa requirements for CFO. nalilito ako kung yan na ba yung nasa passport ko na visa at yung info na nakalagay sa visa… kasi meron din naman nakalagay na photocopy of visa kasama sa requirements din..at im im confuse kasi or if applicable bato sa akin kasi non-immigrant naman tong k3… so anu ba to miss ting? gusto ko lang okey ang papers ko na dala papuntang cfo…eto kc mga requirements miss ting 1. original passport 2. original and photocopy of visa 3. original and photocopy of immigrant data summary for US bound 4. original CFO guidance and counseling certificate 5. duly completed emigrant reggistration form 6. payment of authorized registration fee… so yung number 3 po and kinalilituhan ko…maraming salamat miss ting! sorry super haba ng tanong ko….salamat talaga!!!

  mayron pa pala ms. ting, so nareceived ko yung visa so may yellow envelop, passport at may CFO flowchart.. nagdalawang isip ako ms ting na buksan ang plastic. kasi nakalagay doon sa yellow envelop do not open. so i dont know if yung envelop lang hindi bubuksan or the whole package hindi bubuksan… tapos inisip ko sa pagpunt ng CFO kailangan ipakita ang passport so siguro pwedeng buksan ang plastic… binasa ko ng maraming beses ang flowchart at kailangan talaga ng passport eh so binuksan ko ang plastic ms ting…okey lang ba yun? pero ang yellow envelop never kung ginalaw. but i am wonderring ms ting kasi after ng CFO flor chart nandun yung divorce paper ng asawa ko… bakit kaya nasa labas ng envelop? or hindi naasama doon? may something ba? kailangan ko bang tumawag sa embassy about it? sana maliwanagan ang isip ko ms ting about ds…thank u po!

  ms ting about sa divorce paper ganito kasi ang scene nung interview day ko… so nung nagpunta nako sa filipino na nag interview sa akin hinihingi nya isa isa yung mga papers..so kung anu yung hinihingi nya yun ang binibigay ko… so ngayon hindi nya hiningi yung divorce paper ng asawa ko… so nagtaka ako… then nung umupo na ako nagtanong ako sa isang girl na nag aapply din ng spouse visa, sabi nya dapat daw binigay ko na lahat ng papel kahit hindi nya hiningi. sabi ko naman kasi isa isa nyang hinihingi eh..so i thought yun lang kailanagan nila…so then sabi nung girl okey lang bigay ko nalang daw sa consul pagkaharap ko na…so nung nasa loob na ako at in interview ng consul in d middle of d interview i asked d consul if he needs d divorce paper of my husband,,then sabi nya “yeah i need it” so binigay ko…yun so nagtaka ako bakit nasa plastic na pouch na kasama ng passport, yelow envelop, at CFO flowchat at yung warning sheet aboout nt to open d yellow envelop.,,so an kaya to? or ibig ba sabihin suli na nila sa akin?

  Hi Jorey, we’re on the same case ksi CR1,congrats and goodluck for the coming interview, meron lang sana ako tanong sau if ms ting will allow, verify ko lang ksi kung ilang days nyo inantay yng instruction from NVC na meron checklist to send together with DS230, prang ang tagal na ksi wla pa kmi narereceived from them,ready to send na mga docs nmin andun na sa husband ko. mga almost a month na..salamat.

  If I were you I will call the embassy hotline itseld, and not the Air21 hotline to inquire about the status of your case. Mas OK rin kung ang tatawag yung US citizen petitioner mo.

  Did your husband already pay the visa fee (US$400.00 per applicant) at the NVC? If not, you can pay it at the Embassy’s Consular Cashier.
  
  Looks like, you do not have to pay the visa security surcharge since you paid (or you will) the current fees. Basically, the surcharge is applicable to those who paid the proceesing fees before March 2005.

  The new fees are due in full for any services provided on or after July 13, 2010. Applicants who receive bills from the NVC that are dated after July 13 must pay the new processing fees. Fees paid at the Embassy or to NVC prior to the publication of the final rule are considered paid in full at the current rate, and these applicants will not be required to pay additional fees to cover the difference between the current and new fees. Applicants already billed by NVC prior to July 13, 2010 will only pay the fees billed, regardless of whether they pay before or after the new fees are implemented. If applicants paid their visa application processing fees before March 2005, they will be required to pay the security surcharge.

  What do u mean checklist?naka receive ako ng checklist before for RFE kasi may error yung DS230 ko pero after 2 weeks ok na complete na yung case ko,,once kasi na nagbayad kayo ng immigrant visa fee wait kayo ng 3 days bago magenerate yung fees nyo then as applicant u need to send yung mga documents na hinihingi nila including DS230 part1 and 2 and after NVC received those docu.then mga 2 to 3 weeks mag send ang NVC sayo or sa petitioner mo ng checklist letter response kpag may kulang or error yung docu na sinend mo.then kapag wala nman then much better..hope it helps and goodluck…

  and one more thing u really need to wait the letter from NVC if ur expecting checklist letter responce kasi kailangan mo iprint yung bagong coversheet na naka include sa letter mo,,important yun para hindi madelay yung processing ng immigrant visa,,,goodluck

  thanks for answering my question. i mean kung magpapadala pa ang NVC ng instructions after paying IV Bill then meron narin kmi printed coversheet after it showed paid, send namin yng documents maybe tomorrow with the coversheet, hindi na cguro nmin antayin yng instructions since sa coversheet na pinrint namin andun na ang instructions then yng list of documents to send nirefer nman kmi sa website nila. sana wlang prob, di ksi nmin alam kung meron pa ipapadla ang NVC.

  yah after u pay the 400 dollar and since my cover sheet na nagenerate it means u need o send the supported docu. wala na ipapadala sau ang NVC kasi may instruction naman sa website na nila..goodluck dnt forget to send original docs with a photocopy of it,,

  nagworry na talaga ako kc july 8 pa interview ko until now wala pa visa ko mg 1 month na,,tumawag ako sa us embassy khapon sabi ng nakasagot sa call ko review pa nila kasi daw july 20 pa nila nakuha cenomar ko sa nso pasay,,bakit ganun ktgal miss ting para naiisip ko na wala akong visa matatangap……….

  halo miss ting dito na ako sa usa kasama ko na asawa ko… thanks GOD!!! miss ting may tanong ako kasi k3 visa gamit ko para makarating ako dito… but we filed for CR1 also b4 k3. so itong k3 visa bale way lang to para makapunta ako dito makasama ko husband ko while waiting for CR1 na ma approve. so miss ting nalilito na kami ngayon… so bale hindi na ba namin intindihin ang k3? and just continue d CR1? kasi medyo nakakalito if kailangan pa bang e continue next step sa k3 or just forget about k3 and just focus on CR1? what’s d right thing to do miss ting? thank you so much!

  Hello ms ting,
  I just wanted to ask, i just got married 4 months ago in the phil then got back in US. I am a green card holder.. i was not able to update my last name yet coz some application wud get u spending some money… i want to petition my husband and plan to file I-130…
  \But i am confused.. is it required to fill the form using my last name(married name) or the maiden name. Theere is a line in the form with “other names used” in G325a which is also required for the petition… is it legal to file I 130 using my maiden name.. then update my last name in the future…

  tanong ko rin yan noon gyn so heres what i researched b4 about that….gyn anu type of visa mo? ang immigrant data summary for us bound applicable lang yan if immigrant ka or if you are holding immigrant visa.. or if u r an IR1 or CR1 visa holder kasama yan sa package mu yong yellow envelop na mareceive..pero if u r a K(k1 or k3) visa u dont need to have that or hindi yan applicable for K visas…
